Westfield Crisis Intervention Program

Counselors

Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the Crisis Intervention Program has its main offices at the Center for Adults and Families and provides emergency services to individuals and families experiencing significant mental health or substance abuse difficulties, such as:

  • Severe depression
  • Acute anxiety
  • Suicidal thoughts and feelings
  • Psychosis/loss of touch with reality
  • Combined mental health/substance abuse problems

The overall purpose of this program, which offers immediate response to crisis situations, is to provide a full range of services to individuals and families who are in acute need.

Services include:

  • Telephone crisis intervention
  • In-person emergency counseling
  • Evaluations for psychiatric admissions
  • Follow-up psychotherapy
  • Respite program services
  • Psychiatric consultation
  • Information and referral

The program is staffed by psychologists, clinical social workers, and mental health counselors working in collaboration with staff psychiatrists.

Evaluations are provided on-site during daytime hours, at Noble Hospital Emergency Room after hours, or on an outreach basis.
